Amy

Gosh Amy, to this day I still feel the sting of embarrassment when remembering how terribly I acted.  The late-night storm raged, and the seas were very rough.  Blinded by passions fire, I was all but unaware of the real discomfort you were experiencing.  I knew we were safe, but you did not.  I don’t get sea-sick, but the gale we experienced would make most people uncomfortable.   "Sorry"  Sailor  December 21, 2010

* * * * * * *

Once again I’ve become lost

some village by the sea

time drags by so slowly

wondering where shall I be

Vivid dreams to quickly ended

reality sparked the morning light

within my arms you slowly melted

just what did I do last night

*

We live on separate planets

miles apart most times of the year

during the early hours of morning

"Just bring in the damn anchor!"

" ……yes dear"

Vivid dreams to quickly ended

reality sparked the morning light

within my arms you slowly melted

what did I think about last night

*

Now sitting by the crossroads

wandering through cobwebs in my mind

seeing your magnificent strawberry hair

images vanishing with time

Vivid dreams to quickly ended

reality sparked the morning light

within my arms you slowly melted

what did I talk about last night

*

Your interest is quickly fading

you lost the love I thought we found

You’ve purged your vivid memory

landing both feet on the ground

Vivid dreams to quickly ended

reality sparked the morning light

within my arms you slowly melted

what did we talk about last night

Homeless

Sitting in a coffee house in the middle of the world (St. Paul, Minnesota), I watched a skyscraper grow from the rubble of another demolished downtown (Landmark) hotel.

The morning sun burst on the scene with a flash
But then downtown I saw all the trash

A fresh new rapping of the Earth
They say it’s progress at it’s birth

Still, I cannot help but wonder why
We have this need to reach the sky

Forever upward with steel and stone
Taking us further away from home

New stores and offices and places to work
But listen, herein lies the quirk

There is a problem we all can see
A great big problem in the land of the free

We need a place to put some beds
A quiet place to rest their heads

For the need of the homeless has reached a state
The problem can no longer be left to fate

Your apathy is there with my regretful sigh
Somehow this problem seems to idle by

So what have you done in your daily play
To help with the plight of your fellow man

Have you lifted a finger or made a sound
Do you think no solution can be found

Your wrong you know without a doubt
All the homeless need is a little clout

A Moment of your Time

Give them your pennies
your nickels and dimes
give them your love
by spending some time

Work for solutions
don’t stand around
unless you start talking
they’ll never be found

I could go on-and-on
with this diatribe
taking you on a trip
and helping you hide

This poem is because
they have one request of you
about your homeless neighbors
and the things that you can do

Full Moon

Having just experienced a lunar eclipse on the longest night, and shortest day of this years trip around the sun, I watched as the full Moon, in all its splendor, reflected its influence on the Earth.

Moon 1

Did not the joy in last nights sky

make you smile and get you high

Did not the glow from Her bright eyes

make you feel your natural ties

Now toward the future you can fly

accepting life’s noises with a sigh

Moon 2

The Goddess shows her reflected sunlight

filling the need to plant at night

She shares Her joy for all to see

like opening the land to plant a tree

Moon 3

Mother Earth accepts without a sound

whatever we choose to place in the ground

and She will give as we set the seed

providing all the new growths need

Moon 4

With the Goddess full and overhead

rest the seeds upon their bed

While counting on Her you bypass rejection

it’s three Moons …… sprout to harvest

now that’s perfection

Moon 5

“Just had to shed a bit of light

about the Moon I saw last night”
